Sciatica ambushed my life in one fell swoop. Sleep, food appetite, peace of mind, all evaporated into thin air. Flare-ups subsided but my leg felt heavy, dull ache every step I took. Day after day, no change.
Thing is though my prayer life continued on and in all honesty I shared more prayers than if I had been in the best of health. Myriad amazing beautiful encounters.
So what have I learned!! Hmmmmmm….
I learned to trust more! Even though I had no feeling of being accompanied, somehow I knew wonderfull Holy Trinity, Mother Mary and all of Heaven were watching me closely.
Definitely we are never alone. Father God watches over us all at all times. Jesus walks with us every painful step. Holy Spirt’s guiding light leads us on.
To know and believe that gem, without question or doubt, oftentimes with little or no proof, is all we need to know. Keep walking. Never alone!!
I wished and begged for a cure. Instead, I am being healed every minute I live in this wonderful world.. Time changes everything. Wait on the Lord.
Thomas Merton puts it succinctly: ‘God Who is everywhere, never leaves us. Yet He seems sometimes to be present, sometimes to be absent. If we do not know Him well we do not realize that He may be more present to us when he is absent than when He is present’.
How do we get to know Him well? Prayer, prayer and more prayer. Not just with our lips. Prayer, conversation with God, from the depths of our heart.
‘Pray without ceasing’. (1Thessalonians 5:17)
Praying Holy Rosary night after wakeful night, has turned out to be such a powerful blessing. I was in the school of dearest Mother Mary, safe and secure the whole time. I know that now for sure and certain.
